Pride in Canterbury believes it is vital that there should be at least one bar in the city run for the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender) Community, which will supply the gay papers and magazines, put on entertainment and generally support and provide a focal point for the community in east Kent.
We hope that Picnic in the Park has shown that there is a large and vibrant gay community in the area which is currently poorly provided for.
Canterbury is central to the east Kent region and is therefore a natural meeting point for the wider LGBT community. The City welcomes tourists from around the world to its wide variety of bars, cafes and restaurants and would benefit significantly from a vibrant gay scene.
